How diploma study works

Structured, flexible and verifiable

  • Flexible study — part-time, online or blended, depending on the programme
  • Unit-based structure; most diplomas are assessed by assignments rather than exams
  • Size measured in UK credits — 120 credits is a typical full academic year
  • Certificates issued by the awarding body; qualifications can be checked on the Ofqual register
  • Progression to degree top-up programmes, subject to each university's entry requirements
